The annual St. George Greek Oktoberfest will bring the sights, smells and sounds of Greece to Massillon for three fun-filled days. The festival, scheduled for Oct. 7-9 at the St. George Cultural Center, 364 First St. SE, Massillon, will feature a delectable selection of Greek cuisine and pastries, infectious Greek dances and rhythms, and live entertainment. This year on October 7th, we are having a special event, Taverna Thursday from 6-10pm, where you can experience a Greek Tavern atmosphere.

Festival times are as follows:

6 P.m. – 10 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 7)

11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday (Oct. 8-9)

This year’s menu will include a baked pasta dish called pastitsio, along with other favorites like pork souvlaki and Mousaka. Save room for delicious Greek pastries, baked by the ladies of St. George’s Philoptochos Society. St. George also is pleased to announce its very own Dance Troupe. Also, returning this year as the featured entertainment over two days (Th-F) is the Aegean Duo, a two-man band from Rochester, N.Y. The Aegean Duo is Steve Tavelaris on bouzouki and lead vocals and Nick Mouganis on bouzouki and other instruments. In the spacious, comfortable environs of the Cultural Center, visitors will be able to enjoy Greek food, drinks and pastries. Admission, parking and entertainment is free for Friday and Saturday. Greek Oktoberfest is St. George’s largest fundraiser and, as such, lays the primary foundation for the parish’s community outreach work in the coming year. Among its social programs, the food pantry is food distribution that serves Massillon residents who are most in need. The public also will have an opportunity to learn more about Orthodox Christian beliefs, worship and icons through tours of the church building. St. George is a parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Metropolis of Pittsburgh. ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES Every year, the Oktoberfest Album Committee publishes and distributes a program book during the three-day event. Advertising revenue from the book helps support the vital social ministries of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon. That’s where you come in! During these difficult economic times, we invite you to participate by placing your own advertisement in the festival album. Your ad will be seen by the festival-goers and will go a long way toward helping those less fortunate. Join local and regional businesses, non-profit organizations and well-wishers by placing an ad in the program book. Quarter-, half- and full-page space is available. The deadline is Sept. 28, 2021 for this year’s festival.
