Welcome to the St. George Greek Oktoberfest

Come join us at the eighth annual Greek Oktoberfest from Oct. 6-9 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 364 First St. SE, Massillon, OH which will be highlighting Greek dancing. This four-day festival at the St. George Cultural Center features many favorites and some firsts. In addition to the traditional delicious Greek food and homemade pastries, we will be introducing the Greek pizza, alongside favorites such as the lamb dinner and the 2009 award-winner avgolemono soup.

If the food choices are not enough, the entertainment will surely overwhelm you. Enjoy daily live music daily by The Aegean Duo and daily dance performances by our very own St. George Jr. Dance Troupe which we are very proud to introduce this year. That is not all, though. Thanks to our sister parishes of Annunciation of Akron, Annunciation of Cleveland, Holy Trinity of Canton, and St. Haralambos of Canton, you will experience the energy and power of Greek dance.

And in order for you to be a part of the festivities, we are offering free Greek dance lessons and baklava baking demonstration. A variety of vendors and fine arts booths, a theme basket silent auction, and an outdoor tavern will provide plenty to see and do. Throughout the day, Fr.Yanni Verginis, senior pastor, will lead tours of the church, providing an opportunity more about Orthodox Christian beliefs, worship, and icons.

Come and support St. George’s Greek Oktoberfest, our largest fundraiser, which lays the foundation for our parish’s outreach program, which includes a weekly food distribution for those in the Massillon area. We hope to see you there.

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES

Every year, the Oktoberfest Album Committee publishes and distributes a program book during the four-day event. Advertising revenue from the book helps support the vital social ministries of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon, including a weekly food distribution.

That’s where you come in! During these difficult economic times, we invite you to participate by placing your own advertisement in the festival album. Your ad will be seen by thousands of festival-goers and will go a long way toward helping those less fortunate.

Join local and regional businesses, non-profit organizations and well-wishers by placing an ad in the program book. Quarter-, half- and full-page space is available. This year, we also will feature business card-size ads on our festival place mats.

The deadline was Sept. 19, 2011 for this year’s festival.  Please check back next year!
